Our selection

How we select craftsmen

In Luxembourg, every craftsman operating legally holds an establishment authorisation and a Chambre des Métiers registration. That is essential — and it is the minimum. These documents confirm that a company is allowed to work. They say nothing about how it works.

So we start there, and we keep going.

Verification against official registers

Before a company receives a request through tack, we check the Registre de Commerce et des Sociétés to confirm it exists, is active, and is not in bankruptcy or liquidation. We then verify its autorisation d'établissement — and that it actually covers the trade in question: an authorisation for one trade does not cover another. For cross-border companies, we consult the equivalent registers in their home country. This is manual work, company by company. It is also why our selection stays small.

What happens next

A document does not tell you whether a craftsman calls back, shows up, or finishes the job. Before any paid introduction, we request the professional liability insurance certificate (responsabilité civile professionnelle) — and we ask for it again every year, because insurance valid in 2025 says nothing about 2026. Then we track what happens once a request is sent:

  • Response rate — whether the company actually responds to the requests it receives.
  • The 24-hour rule — a request left unanswered for 24 hours is withdrawn from the company and redistributed to others.

What gets a company removed

A company that does not respond to the requests it receives stops receiving them. It is not a threat, it is a mechanism: requests go to the companies that respond.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell positions. No company can pay to appear first.

  • The companies that receive your requests signed up on tack themselves.

  • We charge homeowners nothing, at any stage.

Are you a craftsman?

Registration is open to companies holding an establishment authorisation in Luxembourg. Once your documents are verified, you receive client requests matching your trades and your area. What is expected afterwards is simple: respond to the requests you accept.

Frequently asked questions

How do you verify that a craftsman is legally authorised in Luxembourg?

We check the Registre de Commerce et des Sociétés to confirm the company exists and is still active, then its autorisation d'établissement — confirming that it covers the trade in question. For cross-border companies, we consult the equivalent registers in their home country. Every check is manual, before any client request.

Do you check craftsmen's insurance?

Yes. Before any paid introduction, we request the company’s professional liability insurance certificate (responsabilité civile professionnelle) and verify its validity date. We ask for it again every year: insurance valid one year says nothing about the next. A company without a current certificate does not receive requests.

Is a Chambre des Métiers registration enough to guarantee quality?

A Chambre des Métiers registration confirms that a company meets the legal conditions to practise its trade in Luxembourg. It is essential. It does not, however, measure how the company works day to day: its responsiveness or its reliability. That is why we also track what happens after registration.

Can a craftsman pay to rank higher on tack?

No. No company can pay to appear first on tack. Display order does not depend on any payment. Companies can purchase access to client requests, but this influences neither their ranking nor their visibility in results.

What happens if a craftsman doesn't answer my request?

A company that does not respond to a request within 24 hours loses it: the request is automatically redistributed to other competent companies in the area. You don't have to do anything. This mechanism keeps your project from being stuck with an unavailable craftsman.

How are client reviews collected?

The ratings shown on profiles come from each company's public Google reviews. We do not edit or filter them. They reflect the experience of real clients, published outside tack, and can be checked directly on the company's Google listing.

Is the service free for homeowners?

Yes. tack is entirely free for homeowners at every stage: the request, receiving quotes and being put in contact. No fee is charged, neither when you submit a request nor after the work. The service is financed by the companies.
